Kill your Darlings – Creativity needs space

Happy new year everybody. We hope you had a great 2014 and that 2015 will be even better. Did you achieve all of your goals and have you already made up some new? If the answer is „yes“, well done, you rock…poser!
If the answer is „well, yeah, I postponed some stuff, but I think I still have enough time to deal with it this year“, you should read this article to the end.
If your answer is „no“, you belong to majority of people…and that’s totally fine. Cause with each new day new ideas come in and plans change.

kill your darlings

Most companies reflect last years business in the first few days after New Year’s Eve, the same time when they plan for the next 12 months. Of course, the are long term plans for the next five, ten, twenty years, but to be flexible you need to be able to rethink quickly.

So, what are the most successful projects of last year? Which projects only caused costs?
When you take a look into future…what do you want to do and what could keep you from realising it?

Be aware that each thought you have, keeps you from having another thought. Yes, they might lead to brilliant ideas…but only if they are good. Same thing happens with each of your projects. If you stuck with them, they will keep you from realising new ones…
…for real, be aware of that.

Maybe it is time to say goodbye to more than just the old year. Maybe we have to leave things behind to have some fresh space for brilliant new ideas.

We wish you all the best for 2015! Keep up the good work…stay tireless.
